  • Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), uses mechanical sound waves to increase blood flow and promote healing in injured tissue.

Shockwaves stimulate fibroblasts that are cells responsible for healing of connective tissue such as tendons and promotes angiogenesis or the formation of new blood vessels in damaged tissue.

Shockwave therapy, is a non-invasive treatment that can help relieve pain and promote healing in injured soft tissues, tendons, and ligaments.

It can also treat bone conditions.

     Shockwave Therapy Works by:

    • Stimulating growth hormones

    • Promoting new tissue growth

    • Improving cellular structures, including cell permeability and tensile stability

    • Breaking down fibrous tissue

    • Reducing the sensation of chronic pain

    • Releasing pain mediator hormones

    • Triggering the stimulation of stem cells

    • Promoting the reabsorption of calcium deposits in tendons

  • Some conditions that shockwave therapy can treat include:

    • Foot and ankle:

Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonopathy, retrocalcaneal bursitis

    • Knee:

Patellar tendinosis (jumper's knee), IT band, insertional pain, strain to the medial or lateral collateral ligaments

    • Upper leg:

Quad injury or hamstring strain or injury

    • Hand:

      Strains and injuries

    • Elbow:

Lateral epicondylosis (tennis elbow), medial epicondylosis (golfer's elbow), little leaguer's elbow, tricep or bicep elbow injuries

    • Hip:

Gluteal muscle strain, bursitis, iliopsoas bursitis, hip flexor tendinosis

    • Shoulder:

Calcinosis of the rotator cuff, partial tear of the rotator cuff, bicep injuries

  • At Kairos we include it in your Wellness treatment at no extra charge when you sign up as a client.

You can elect to receive a trial session of both radial and focused shockwave for $150.

(We also like to use therapeutic ultrasound and cold laser on your injury location for best results at no extra cost).

We recommend at least 6 sessions for optimal recovery for tendon and ligament related injuries.
